About Me
Working in partnership to find the right path for you

My approach is built on the following stages

E – explore
D – develop
I – insight
F – free
Y – yourself

Welcome to Edify Psychological Services. My name is Sandy Juric and I offer confidential trauma-informed psychotherapy, specialising in integrative psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

Integrative psychotherapy draws on techniques from different types of therapy to tailor an approach specifically for you. Everyone is unique and what may work for one person may not work for another. During our first meeting, we will discuss the problem (s) and possible ways to address them. I will meet you where you are now on your journey and prioritise the therapeutic relationship. Talking about our problems takes courage and I respect my clients for taking what can be a very difficult step.

I have found that these elements lead to individuals becoming empowered to overcome their problems and continue to develop. My aim is to work with you to provide you with the skills to be your own therapist. I know that seeing a therapist for the first time can be a daunting experience. My aim is to create a safe, confidential space for my clients to work on their problems.

From many years of experience, I know how important it is to fully understand why we find ourselves in the position we are in and to approach this in a sensitive and compassionate way. Doing so gives us the power to move on. I believe in the human capacity for growth and I am fortunate to experience this first hand. When we invest in ourselves real change is possible.

In the meantime it might be useful to learn a bit more about me.

Your well-being

Since the beginning of my career in mental health there have been some positive changes in how we view mental health as a society. In spite of this, it saddens me when I notice how often our emotional well-being is disregarded. It is one of the biggest indicators of our physical health and general well-being. All too often our emotional difficulties are at the bottom of a very long list. My experience is that when we are well emotionally this extends into all areas of our life;  we make better choices, have better relationships and feel more authentic. Life feels easier somehow.   I am passionate about promoting the importance of good mental health across society as a whole.

My professional journey

Initially drawn to counselling, this led to graduate-level psychology, post-graduate diplomas in both Integrative Psychotherapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and an MA in Psychotherapy. I am an accredited CBT (BABCP) therapist and a member of the BACP (MBACP) and adhere to their code of ethics. I am compliant with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and discuss this with all my clients when we first meet. I am passionate about my own professional development and have trained in Addiction, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to enhance my therapeutic skills. More recently I have completed a Yoga Alliance Accredited course because I am interested in the impact that yoga has on our mental health.  Physical health and emotional health are intimately intertwined in what’s known as the mind-body connection. Our chemistry and biology impact our mood and emotions, as well as thoughts and beliefs. I am passionate about furthering my understanding of this connection and in offering a holistic approach that moves away from the medical model. I find working with people incredibly rewarding and enjoy meeting new clients.

Experience

My experience is diverse; from severe and enduring mental health services, drug and alcohol services, rehabilitation, primary-care and forensic settings. More recently I have worked in the NHS and whilst this was rewarding I decided to work independently in order to fulfil my own values which are to offer therapy at the point when a client asks for help and to tailor therapy to suit the individual. I have worked in private practice for more than 20 years now and enjoy the freedom and flexibility this enables me to have as a therapist.
